Transurethral Remote Afterloading Technique (Low Dose Rate Cs-i 37) for the Delivery of Supplementary Radiation in Early Stage Prostate Cancer A Pilot Study

In this study 10 patients with the diagnosis of stage B-2 prostate adenocarcinoma, were treated by a supplementary prostate dose of 29.48-36.48 Gy through a transurethral remote afterloading technique using low dose rate Cs-137 source following external pelvic irradiation. The initial evaluation and the assessment of the local response was made by ultrasonography. Very good local control was achieved in all patients, no treatment related complication were observed in either the bladder or the rectum.
